Veneers – ceramic and composite

Veneers change the shape, colour and proportions of the front teeth with minimal removal of tooth structure. Before treatment we show you a digital simulation of your new smile.

When are veneers the right choice?

  • teeth are discoloured and do not respond sufficiently to whitening,
  • edges are chipped or worn,
  • there are gaps between the teeth (diastema),
  • teeth differ in shape or size,
  • teeth are only slightly misaligned – more pronounced crowding is first corrected with Invisalign®.

For heavily damaged teeth or large fillings, a crown or partial crown is usually more appropriate.

Which option suits you depends on the condition of your teeth, your bite, habits such as bruxism, and your expectations. We explain the options at the examination.

Treatment steps

  1. Examination and analysis – teeth and gums, photographs, X-rays and a 3D scan (first visit).
  2. Digital smile design – we design the new smile and show it to you as a simulation or as a mock-up in your mouth.
  3. Preparation – if needed, teeth whitening, hygiene or orthodontic alignment first.
  4. Fabrication – composite veneers are shaped directly on the teeth. For ceramic veneers, the teeth are minimally prepared, a digital impression is taken and temporaries are fitted.
  5. Bonding and review – veneers are adhesively bonded, the bite is checked and a follow-up visit is scheduled.

Caring for veneers

Clean veneers like natural teeth: brush twice a day, clean between the teeth and see the hygienist regularly. Avoid biting hard objects such as pens, nails or nutshells. If you clench or grind your teeth (bruxism), we make a protective night guard.

Price

Composite veneers (bonding) cost from €300 and ceramic veneers from €450 per tooth. You receive an exact quote in your treatment plan after the examination. See the price list.

Frequently asked questions

Do teeth need to be ground down for veneers?

Composite veneers usually not. For ceramic veneers, preparation is minimal and mostly within the enamel; in some cases no preparation is needed.

How long do veneers last?

It depends on the material, bite, habits and oral hygiene. Ceramic veneers are more durable than composite. With regular check-ups both types can last many years.

Can I whiten my teeth before veneers?

Yes, and if you want a brighter smile we recommend it. Veneers are made in the shade of the whitened teeth, as their colour does not change afterwards.
