Teeth whitening in Ljubljana

In-office whitening, home whitening with custom trays and internal whitening of a single discoloured tooth – always after an examination and under the supervision of a dentist.

Who is whitening suitable for?

  • teeth have yellowed or darkened over time (coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, ageing),
  • you want a brighter smile before an important event,
  • you are planning veneers or crowns on the front teeth – we whiten first and match the new restorations to the whitened shade,
  • a single tooth has darkened after trauma or root canal treatment.

Whitening changes the colour of natural teeth, not of fillings, veneers or crowns. If needed, these are replaced after whitening to match.

Before whitening: examination and hygiene

We only whiten healthy teeth and gums. At the first visit we check for caries, leaking fillings, gum recession and sensitive tooth necks and record the starting shade. Whitening is usually preceded by professional hygiene – removing tartar and surface stains often brightens the smile noticeably on its own.

Whitening methods

In-office whitening

Performed in the clinic in one visit. The gums are protected, whitening gel is applied and the process is monitored throughout. The result is visible immediately.

Home whitening with custom trays

We take a digital impression with an intraoral scanner and make thin trays that fit your teeth precisely. You apply the gel at home as instructed, usually for 1–2 weeks. You keep the trays for later touch-ups.

Combined whitening

In-office whitening can be combined with home whitening for a faster start and a more even result.

Internal whitening of a single tooth

A tooth that has darkened after root canal treatment is whitened from the inside: the whitening agent is placed inside the tooth and sealed with a temporary filling, repeated if necessary. A good-quality root canal filling is a prerequisite, so the tooth is checked on an X-ray first.

Is whitening safe?

Whitening under the supervision of a dentist does not damage the enamel. Under EU legislation, products containing more than 0.1 % and up to 6 % hydrogen peroxide may only be used under dentist supervision and only in adults.

The most common side effect is temporary sensitivity, which usually resolves within a few days and can be reduced by adjusting the regime and using desensitising agents. We do not whiten during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How long does the result last?

It depends mainly on diet and habits – coffee, tea, red wine and smoking restain teeth faster. With home trays you can refresh the shade with a short top-up cycle.

Price

Teeth whitening costs from €300. The final price depends on the method (in-office, home or combined) and is given after the examination. See the price list.

Frequently asked questions

Does whitening hurt?

No. During whitening and for a few days afterwards, teeth may be more sensitive to cold; this resolves on its own.

Can fillings, veneers or crowns be whitened?

No. Whitening agents only work on natural tooth structure. Visible fillings or crowns can be replaced afterwards if needed.

Is whitening suitable for everyone?

No. We do not whiten in minors, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or with untreated caries or inflamed gums.
